A Reminder of Sunshine

Winter has seriously set in now – in England it really begins when you start scraping ice off the car in the morning.

So, to cheer me (and hopefully you readers) up, I’m going to be posting a few photos of sunnier places from time to time.

The first is sunset at Lake Nakuru in Kenya…

Autumn II

A few more from Autumn 2013…

Reflections

I love the way light plays with water…

Autumn 2013

Autumn is my favourite season (as I mentioned a few weeks ago) and I’ve finally had the chance to get out with a camera…

Season favourites

Now that wedding season is over I love looking over my photos from the summer and picking out my favourites.

Here’s one that still makes me smile – the way the groom is holding his bride’s hand is so wonderfully ‘them’…

The end of summer

Autumn is my favourite season, so I never get too upset at as the nights begin to get longer. But I do like to catch a few photos of the last of the summer evening light as I love the way it picks out detail and patterns…

Wedding flowers

An immense amount of thought and consideration goes into wedding flowers and because of that I always make a point of recording an image of them. From an artistic perspective my focus is on the colour and the design, which is what I’ve tried to capture in the following picture. More photos from the wedding to follow…

Wedding details - bunting

Bunting is not something that usually gets me excited, but Phil & Emily’s wedding was a bunting spectacular and by the end of the day I was certainly into it. It’s not going up in my living room anytime soon, but I think it makes a great wedding decoration…

Wedding cake toppers

I don’t know if wedding cake toppers are making a comeback, but I’ve seen several this season. I’m always amazed at the artistry required to make them…

The end of the eveing

I always forget over the quiet winter months just how tiring  a wedding day can be. One of my personal favourite moments is just after the first dance when I feel like I’ve nicely book-ended the day. At that point I will often go outside for a breath of fresh air and to get a final few images that finish the story.

Here are a couple, one from last year and one from the 2013 season…
